EDINBURG, Texas- DHR Health Institute for Research & Development and DHR Health in partnership with Region One GEAR UP and PATHS programs have organized a unique opportunity for the high school students to participate in the summer Junior Clinical Research Internship (JCRI) Program. The objective of this program is to expose students to various disciplines in medicine and to increase their interest in research. Over 200 students and teachers will participate in this program over a period of 8 weeks.

As a requirement to graduate, all students will submit a manuscript on existing public health crisis such as obesity, diabetes, liver diseases, cancer, etc.

Under supervision of a facilitator, students have worked in small groups to discuss the problem, undertake the required research, and ultimately draft a manuscript which has been reviewed and published as commentary in our DHR Proceedings new issue, Vol.2 No.S2(2022): Special Edition.
